Programs

The College of Padannakkad was established with the main focus of addressing Agri-related issues of Malabar region, Kasargod and Kannur, in particular. The college offers to strengthen specialist scientific skills in strategically important areas of all aspects of farming and supports the agricultural industry, looking at a range of highly important subjects such as sustainability, environmental management and technology.

The institution presently offers under-graduate (B.Sc. Hons. Ag.) degree, post-graduate and PhD programs.  Student intake is based on a common entrance test conducted by the Government of India (NEET) and regulated by KEAM. 

 

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM 

An undergraduate degree from the CoAP is more than just a qualification. Our courses will provide students with a fulfilling college experience and opportunities that will help them grow academically and personally. Many of our undergraduate programmes offer experiential learning modules and opportunities for work placements. The current student intake is 100 and current student strength is 259.  The students include a fair share of out -of -state candidates as well, nominated by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.

POST GRADUATE PROGRAM

A postgraduate degree is the perfect opportunity to refine subject knowledge and improve job prospects. CoAP offers a range of MSc courses in Agriculture.  The departments of Agronomy, Horticulture, Agricultural Chemistry & Soil Science, Agricultural Entomology, Plant Biotechnology and Plant  Pathology are the departments that offer Post-graduate programs in this college.

FOREIGN STUDENTS ADMISSION

The foreign students shall apply for admission to the Programmes of the Kerala Agricultural University through the Indian Missions in the respective country and the application with biodata and copies of certificates to prove qualification and age has to be forwarded to the  Government of India by the Indian Embassy/Mission in concerned country. The Govt. of India, ICAR or EdCIL arranges for admission through the Indian Council of Agricultural Research/ DARE/ EdCIL. The seats allotted to foreign students will be over and above the notified strength in each course.

Foreign students who have arrived in India on tourist visa will not be admitted unless they have taken the previous approval of the Government of India to their visa being converted to student visa. But their applications will be provisionally considered and their eligibility decided. An ‘Eligibility Certificate’ with indication of last date by which they must join the course will be issued to the eligible candidates and they will be advised to approach the Ministry of Home Affairs through the Foreigners' Registration Officer or the State Government where the foreign students are temporarily residing at the time of application. With such application for conversion of their visa they should attach the eligibility certificate in original.

No self-financing foreign student will be admitted to any of the courses in KAU. The facilities of reservation of seats will henceforth be given only to the following two categories of foreign students viz.,

  • Foreign students supported by Govt. of India through scholarships/ fellowships.
  • Foreign students supported by respective Govt./International organisation through scholarships/fellowships and approved by Govt. of India (ICAR/DARE).
